WORCESTER, Mass., April 4, 2006 — Fallon Clinic, one of the largest multi-specialty
group practices in central Massachusetts, and Fallon Clinic Foundation, the charitable
arm of Fallon Clinic, donated 43 boxes of food to the Jeremiah’s Inn Emergency
Nutrition Center on Saturday, April 1, 2006. In all, more than 1,200 pounds of food
were donated.
Employees representing more than 30 Fallon Clinic departments donated canned and
boxed foods in March, and worked side-by-side with Jeremiah’s Inn staff and
volunteers to deliver and stock the food.
“Each week, Jeremiah’s Inn provides emergency food assistance for over
500 people from cities and towns throughout Worcester County,” said Walter
H. Spencer, the organization’s executive director. “The food donations
made through Fallon Clinic employees and their families will help us provide nutritious
food to these needy families and individuals. We are very grateful for this assistance,
which demonstrates how every bit of effort and kindness can make a big difference
in someone’s life.”
Fallon Clinic also donated courier and trucking services to collect and deliver
the donated food to the Jeremiah’s Inn Emergency Nutrition Center.
“As hunger continues to be an epidemic across the nation, it is critical that
we join together as a community and give what we can to those in need,” said
Dr. Craig E. Samitt, chief operating officer of Fallon Clinic. “Fallon Clinic
and Fallon Clinic Foundation are honored to be involved with Jeremiah’s Inn,
an organization so committed to support for individuals in Worcester County.”
