WORCESTER, Mass., April 21, 2006— Fallon Clinic, one of the largest multi-specialty
group practices in central Massachusetts, has partnered with the U.S. Army to become
the first and only healthcare organization in Massachusetts to participate in the
Partnership for Youth Success Program (PaYS).
Fallon Clinic has signed an agreement that presents hiring opportunities to qualified
soldiers who are participating in PaYS, a strategic partnership program that offers
18 to 22-year-old Army veterans a fresh employment start in their communities. The
program was developed to help the Army attract, train and deploy talented young
people who want to serve their country and their communities, as well as to help
secure their future success once their service is complete. Under terms of the agreement
between Fallon Clinic and the U.S. Army, enlistees interested in gaining specific
job training and qualifications will receive training for health care positions
while in the Army.
“At Fallon Clinic we believe that our success is directly linked to the quality
of the people we hire,” said Randi Nichols, chief human resources officer
of Fallon Clinic. “By partnering with the U.S. Army in the PaYS program, we
will not only attract and hire dedicated employees but also strengthen Fallon Clinic’s
impact on the success of our country’s veterans when they return home from
duty.”
Fallon Clinic’s participation in the PaYS program is one of many recently
launched initiatives under Fallon Clinic Foundation, the charitable arm of Fallon
Clinic. The series of programs, announced in January 2006, are designed to promote
overall community health and welfare. Fallon Clinic developed the partnership through
its Foundation with the help of Congressman James P. McGovern. The partnership will
enable Fallon Clinic to provide job interviews to qualified returning war veterans
of the U.S. Army, helping to prevent unemployment and homelessness among returning
soldiers. Approximately 10% of the 150 Central Massachusetts veterans discharged
annually are expected to participate, offering them an honorable return to civilian
life and a fresh start in local communities.
“The U.S. Army is excited to add Fallon Clinic to its team of corporate partners
in the PaYS program,” said Brig. Gen. John Shortal, USAREC Deputy Commanding
General (East). “We are proud of partnerships that enable our recruiters to
offer applicants quality employment opportunities during and after their Army service.”
