WORCESTER, Mass., February 11, 2006 — Fallon Clinic Foundation, the
charitable arm of
Fallon Clinic, has donated an array of both new and used medical equipment,
as well as educational materials, to Anna Maria College’s new Health Sciences
Laboratory, which is currently under construction.
Described as “an extremely important undertaking for the college” by
college president William D. McGarry, the Health Sciences Laboratory will contain
a five-bed clinical area, mock nursing station, examination room, home-health teaching
area, classroom with SmartBoard technology and two rooms for student practice with
simulation technology. The donated equipment includes wheelchairs, walkers, canes
and examination tables, as well as a rolling IV pole and an x-ray viewing box.
“Fallon Clinic Foundation’s generous support for this state-of-the-art
facility will benefit all health science students at Anna Maria College, including
those in our nursing program, and we thank the Foundation for its early support
of our efforts to make this critical health care project a reality,” said
McGarry.
The nursing program at Anna Maria College, located in Paxton, Massachusetts, brings
students from entry-level study in nursing through an associate degree program to
successful achievement of the bachelor degree in nursing. The college’s unique
curriculum includes courses in case management, environmentally related illness,
biomedical moral issues, complementary health care and cardiac nursing.
“With such a critical shortage of nurses, Fallon Clinic Foundation and Fallon
Clinic feel that it’s more important than ever to support the exceptional
nursing programs in our area,” said Baltej S. Maini, president of Fallon Clinic.
