WORCESTER, Mass., February 6, 2007 — Fallon Clinic Chief Information
Officer Ed Nazzaro inspired 24 Goddard Elementary School students to reach for business
success with a field trip to Fallon Clinic’s corporate offices last week.
The students, all from urban neighborhoods, presented their ideas for international
businesses using PowerPoint and other technologies in Fallon Clinic’s executive
boardroom.
The trip was organized as part of a Fallon Clinic and Fallon Clinic Foundation initiative
that pairs Fallon Clinic executives with classrooms at the Goddard Elementary School
of Science and Technology in Worcester through Junior Achievement of Central Massachusetts.
“The field trip was an opportunity to bring students from my Junior Achievement
class to a real-world business setting,” said Ed Nazzaro, Chief Information
Officer at Fallon Clinic. “I hope they are further inspired to pursue business
career options after experiencing a positive corporate environment, and seeing that
they can be successful.”
In partnership with businesses, local organizations and educators, Junior Achievement
and volunteers from local corporations such as Fallon Clinic bring the real world
to students, teaching basic business concepts and enforcing the value of staying
in school.
“Fallon Clinic’s support of Junior Achievement at the Goddard Elementary
School strongly impacts our ability to lift the performance of our students,”
said Dr. James Caradonio, Worcester Public School superintendent. “Ed has
developed a great rapport with our students. We appreciate his efforts, and the
work of all the Fallon Clinic volunteers at the Goddard Elementary School.”
Fallon Clinic and Fallon Clinic Foundation also have supported the Goddard Elementary
School with a donation of 11 refurbished PC's for a computer lab that helps students
to prepare for MCAS testing, and a $5,000 grant for the school’s “Fitness
For All Seasons” nutrition and exercise program.
“We are proud to support the efforts of Junior Achievement and the Worcester
Public School system to help further the skills of students at the Goddard Elementary
School of Science and Technology,” said Dr. Stephen Pezzella, acting president
of Fallon Clinic and Fallon Clinic Foundation. “Working together, we can ensure
a successful future for these deserving students.”
