and Those Relocated to Central Massachusetts

and Fallon Clinic employees have contributed $90,000 to support national relief
efforts of the American Red Cross to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. The 30-day

Fallon Clinic will donate a third of their fundraising efforts to the American Red
Cross of Central Massachusetts. The money will go to help the more than 100 families
from New Orleans and Mississippi displaced to Massachusetts receive emergency relief
– including shelter, food, clothing and financial assistance – to help
them through the devastating ordeal.
“The American Red Cross is truly grateful to Fallon Clinic and Fallon Clinic
Foundation for all they have offered in time, money, and blood donations to assist
the survivors of Hurricane Katrina,” said Lisa A. Peihler, executive director
of the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts. “It is reassuring to know
that we are backed by the generosity of so many members of our local community as
we move forward in the largest disaster relief operation in the history of the American
Red Cross.”
Fallon Clinic, a member of the American Medical Group Association (AMGA), also donated
$5,000 worth of much needed medical supplies to Hattiesburg Clinic, a fellow AMGA
member based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Clinic employees and volunteer relief
workers will use those supplies – which include syringes, gauze, gloves and
Tylenol – to help care for Katrina evacuees.
“We have appealed to all of the members of our team to give as much as they
can to help families who have lost homes, belongings and loved ones in the wake
of Katrina,” said Dr. Baltej S. Maini, president of both Fallon Clinic Foundation
and Fallon Clinic. “Fallon Clinic and Fallon Clinic Foundation have always
been among the first organizations to offer assistance in times of need, and Katrina
is no exception. Our contribution will hopefully aid in the nationwide efforts to
re-unite families as well as provide food, shelter and comfort to those who may
now call Central Massachusetts home.”
Fallon Clinic Foundation is a non-profit organization established and funded by
Fallon Clinic and Fallon Community Health Plan, as well as other private contributions,
both to promote community health and welfare and to improve access to health services.
