WORCESTER, Mass., October 5, 2006 — Fallon Clinic Foundation has teamed
up with the City of Worcester this fall to renovate and paint the Kendrick Pool
House inside and out.
The Kendrick Pool House is the first project to benefit under one of Fallon Clinic
Foundation’s new community outreach programs, Fallon Clinic Green Up. Fallon
Clinic Foundation has donated $10,000 and lent employee volunteers to the City of
Worcester for this long-desired public works project. The City of Worcester is stepping
up with its own employee help, matching dollars, logistical support and a brand
new sign at the property.
“Through Fallon Clinic Foundation’s Green Up project, Fallon Clinic
is reaching out to local communities to restore old parks and lots,” said
Dr. Stephen Pezzella, Acting President and CEO of Fallon Clinic. “We’re
helping to make them safe, beautiful places to gather and play again. Working in
partnership with the City of Worcester and the Worcester City Council, we will make
improvements to the Kendrick Pool House that will benefit hundreds of children and
families.”
The Kendrick Pool House at Kendrick Field on Brooks Street in Worcester, falls just
outside the local Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) area, making the park
ineligible for federal funds that could help with renovations.
“Pool houses across the city are in great need of updated bath facilities,
including new toilets, bathroom partitions, plumbing and painting both inside and
out.” said Michael V. O’Brien, Worcester City Manager. “Fallon
Clinic Foundation has been a wonderful community partner for many years and its
donation of funds and volunteers to the Kendrick Pool House project will help move
the effort along as we work together to make Worcester a safer, healthier, happier
place to live.”
